Description
In the Ottiya Empathy Issue, we explore the intersections of empathy and learning. We uncover how education innovators all over the world understand and conceptualize empathy in different ways. Together with our contributors, we explore questions such as: what does empathy mean to you? Why should we teach children about empathy? What are the challenges of incorporating empathy into existing curricula?
We all define empathy in different way and we value it for different reasons. But, at the heart of it all, we think that it’s important because it helps us to care, understand, and make sense of one another and the world. It allows us to imagine feelings, experiences, and things unseen. As Helen Keller once said, “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart.”
